Not staying connected

I may be missing something but I cant keep the new version of the app connected to the bridge on either the iPhone or iPad. It would be easy to say its the bridge except the bridge is new and both the older version of the app and the SmartThing app work great and stay connected.

Its not the most intuitive app. As an example the app offers the ability to combine lights into a room. I defy an first time user to do just that and be able to control those lights!
