Philips Hue gen 1 App Reviews

217 add

I now HATE Philips Hue...

...that is all.

Dont download Gen 2 app

The new app is terrible. The developers should be ashamed of themselves for putting that junk out. Keep the functionality of the the first app.

So many issues

How many times is this app going to tell me theres a new version available

Remove new app notification

Remove the "new app available" notification or make the new app better.

Never Discontinue This App

This original app offers more customization options than the new one. I was taking it for granted before I tried the new app. Minimalism is not the way go to, Philips. Ill take this slightly awkward-looking app over the sleek pointless mess of the new app any day. I deleted it but Id try it again if they updated. Just please dont remove features from this one!

Horrible

Sometime it works and the rest of the time it doesnt. It refuses to let me connect to my bridge from a different router. Once it syncs to one router it is done. Then it sometimes connects and other times it doesnt. Total waste of time and money to use this app or buy the lights since the app doesnt work.

Switching back from gen 2 to gen 1

The hue light app gen 2 is horrible beyond words. Since everyone is switching back to gen 1, would you be so kind to remove the update reminder on this app?

Do not delete this app

Do not delete this app! Read the other reviews on version 2, they are scary.

Shame on Philips

Philips needs to be ashamed. For a technology company to put out something so poor, is embarrassing. Forget about easy setup if you buy more than the three standard bulbs, that is not happening. Getting them in sync, not in your lifetime. So, if you just plan to stay with three bulbs, you MIGHT get it to work. Now, if you ever want to control it while your away from home -one of their well advertised features - see the above. The bulbs are great, the software awful, help nonexistent. Apple should pull this from their shelves, since the quality control level in terms of customer experience is beyond awful.

Much better App. Just spend 5 minutes to learn it

My first reaction to the new app was that it was confusing. No, it is different, and much more intuitive. I feel that most of the recent bad reviews were by folks that did not spend just a few moments to see how it works. Bravo, Good job on this Updated App. Two Rooms, 22 Lights

Better than gen 2

This app is better than Hue gen 2, but still needs some work. They added the ability to group lights in gen 2 which was a great improvement, but they removed the ability to create custom scenes which makes absolutely no sense. Philips would be better off spending time improving this app by adding better light grouping, sliders showing percentages, droplet numbers reflecting arranged light order, better scene sharing and Siri integration. Hopefully, theyll remove the New App Reminder in the meantime.

yep... stick w original version (gen 1)

just tried the newer version and while some of the views are prettier, it totally breaks and/or complicates the most useful features of the original. scenes are incredibly useful in gen 1 and horribly implemented in the newest version... should probably be rooms, scenes, and routines and all future versions should offer more flexibility not introduce new constraints while breaking existing conventions the most have use have come to rely on.

User Friendly and User Defined

I dont know what version others have but this app is excellent. Ive used my own images to create atmospheric highly personalized scenes. Each bulb is controllable. Every scene and setting can be saved. The presets are useful. Its easy to learn and use.

Forget Gen 2

This app is far better then gen 2. Sure it has some things Id like to see fixed. But having tried gen 2 and reading very few positive reviews, those positives are all things this app can do as well. The only thing the gen 2 app does better then gen 1 is look pretty. Id rather have functionality then looks

Better than the new one

It works ok. In function and concept it is still better than the new one. I like the pictures for scenes. And the pictures in the widget option.

Wow! I cant believe...

...that I didnt read the reviews before UPgrading this app. I feel so totally screwed out of the features I bought these overpriced light bulbs for. All the features that made it worthwhile are simple gone with the update. Thats just Fd up. My eyes are burning as I write this from the intense glare I can no longer seem to control. All my settings, timers, and scenes.... STOLEN!

Notification

Tried using the new app twice and ended up deleting it both times. This app now has a notification every time I open it. Just when you think this app cant get worse. Hue is overpriced junk. Regret purchasing these stupid lights. Thanks Philips!

Still pushes upgrade ad

This version still forces you to click through the upgrade ad for version 2, everything you switch to the app, not just when you launch the app. The fact that this app is still in the App Store is a testimate to how many people hate the version 2 app. Philips answer? Iritate the existing version 1 customers too.

Philips gone bad

Its a shame for company like Philips to come up with junkie apps like this .i just dont get why FIX when it works perfectly fine .i have 14 bulbs and man after this updates it became hell for me to work those lights.called Philips support and they told me Im the first one complaining about the app.im like go take a look at the reviews at App Store and you will see and they told me they dont do that the only way to keep record of people having problems are when they call in .BS I told them if it doesnt get fixed with in a month Im sell all this bs and switch to different system and brand

Dont Dont Dont buy Hue until they fix this app

I have over 40 hue bulbs throughout my home. Originally version one worked Ok, not great. Then version two of the app is released. Its awful. Unusable, actually. Back to version one for me, but Philips has hobbled it with the update forcing you to upgrade to version 2 of the app with every click. Im going to sell my Hue system ( using the latest HomeKit bridge) and go with another system that has a decent app and interface. Philips, a real disappointment. I love your sonicare toothbrush, though. Stick to dental care and gracefully sell your home automation line to Samsung. Game over.
